My Focus for Rockwall

“Rockwall’s future will not be shaped by chance — it will be shaped by discipline. I believe in running toward the challenge — protecting our safety, strengthening our economy, preserving our character, defending local control, and keeping traffic moving — so Rockwall continues to thrive for the next generation.”

Strengthening Economic Competitiveness

A strong local economy reduces reliance on property taxes and keeps Rockwall thriving. Nearby cities are competing hard for retail, dining, and commercial growth. Without a clear strategy, Rockwall risks losing revenue and opportunity.

FORWARD FOCUS:
Support strategic commercial development along key corridors
Retain and grow local small businesses
Encourage job-producing employers
Protect long-term sales tax stability

Keeping Rockwall Safe

Public safety is the foundation of quality of life and property values. As population grows, service demands increase. Response times, staffing levels, and retention must stay ahead of growth. I will deliver big-city capability with small-town responsiveness.

FORWARD FOCUS:
Maintain competitive compensation for police and fire
Plan staffing based on projected growth
Invest in technology and training
Preserve a strong community-policing model

Maintaining Local Control
Local leaders understand local needs better than distant policymakers. State-level legislation continues to impact zoning authority, ETJ planning, and municipal flexibility. I will ensure Rockwall’s future is shaped by Rockwall residents.

FORWARD FOCUS:
Protect thoughtful zoning authority
Balance property rights with neighborhood integrity
Collaborate with county and state partners
Advocate for policies that preserve municipal planning discretion

Preserving Community Character
People move to Rockwall for a reason — and we must protect that reason. Rapid development can dilute identity if not managed carefully. I will commit to Rockwall remaining Rockwall — not just another suburb.

FORWARD FOCUS:
Protect historic downtown
Preserve open space where possible
Encourage quality development standards
Support nonprofits, churches, and civic engagement

Traffic & Growth Pressures (TxDOT Corridors)

Traffic congestion directly impacts daily life, emergency response times, and economic vitality. Many major corridors — including I-30 — fall under TxDOT jurisdiction, requiring regional coordination and advocacy. We need to stay ahead of congestion rather than constantly reacting to it.

FORWARD FOCUS:
Aggressively advocate for TxDOT project acceleration
Improve east-west connectivity
Coordinate land use decisions with traffic capacity
Plan ahead for long-term regional mobility
